The "Tipsy Eagle" is a brown ale matured in oak barrels. The beer that forms the basis for the Tipsy Eagle is our "Weizenbock Hell" (a pale weiss beer / wheat beer) stored in the barrels for ten months. What’s remarkable about this beer is that the oak barrels were previously used to store red wine produced in the Chateau St. Julien d’Aille in the South of France.
Appearance, aroma and taste
Pleasing to the eye are the reddish-brown wooden shades and a warm amber colour as well as a stable, firm frothy head, while the nose finds pleasure in typical fruity aromas, such as banana in the top-fermented yeast, forest fruits, a light tannic acid as well as wooden accents/notes from being stored in the oak barrels.
The first taste is multilayered – soft and well-rounded, full-bodied and pleasantly acidic, whilst boasting discrete aromas of wood and red wine as well as a subtle/slight hoppy finish.
